Two Classical Stations Rank Within the Top Ten Internet Stations in Arbitron's Internet Broadcast Ratings 05.08.03

NEW YORK, May 8, 2003 - Two classical stations, WQXR-FM and Beethoven.com, were ranked in the top ten Internet radio stations for the week of April 21, according to Arbitron's Internet Broadcast Ratings.

WQXR-FM was ranked number three with 222,761 hours of Total Time Spent Listening (TTSL), the sum total of hours tuned by listeners to a given station or network. Internet-only station, Beethoven.com, was ranked number seven with 146,335 hours of TTSL.

MUSICMATCH Artist Match maintained its position as the number one individual Internet radio station with 290,453 hours of TTSL. Virgin Radio was ranked number two with 255,056 hours of TTSL.

LAUNCH, the music destination on Yahoo! was ranked as the number one Internet Broadcast Network with 3,155,570 hours of TTSL. Live365 was ranked number two with 2,768,945 hours of TTSL. Chaincast/StreamAudio was ranked number three with 1,496,421 hours of TTSL.

As Arbitron's Internet Broadcast Ratings (powered by MeasureCast technology) transitions to a subscription-only service, some stations previously reported in the ratings have elected not to subscribe to the service and will no longer be included. The ratings may not reflect all tuning for the measured stations or channels since Arbitron may have received incomplete or unusable server data.

Demographic Highlights for the Week of April 21 - April 27

• The peak listening day was Wednesday, April 23, with 18 percent of the week's online listening.
• 77 percent of weekly online listening took place between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific time.
• 13 percent of the week's total listening took place during the weekend.
• 85 percent of the measured listeners were between the ages of 18 and 54.
• 69 percent of listeners were men; 31 percent were women.
• In the U.S., 33 percent of listeners resided in the South; 30 percent in the West; 18 percent in the Northeast; and 19 percent in the Midwest.

1. TTSL (Total Time Spent Listening), sometimes referred to as Aggregate Tuning Hours (ATH), is the total number of hours tuned to a given station or network in the reported time period.
2. Cume Persons is an estimate of the total number of unique listeners who had one or more listening sessions lasting five minutes or longer during the reported time period. This estimate is derived using an algorithm that takes into account unique media player GUIDs, unique IP addresses and other variables during the reported time period.
3. The 128K stream for Virgin Radio/1215 AM & 105.8 FM is not currently measured by Arbitron MeasureCast Ratings.
4. K-LOVE is not reported in this week's ratings due to server communication issues.
