KEXP Joins the Arbitron Internet Broadcast Ratings 03.09.04

NEW YORK, March 9, 2004 – KEXP, Radio Seattle joins the Arbitron Internet Broadcast Ratings ranked as the number seven Internet Broadcaster and Sales Network with 168,244 hours of Total Time Spent Listening (TTSL) for the week of February 16.

AOL Radio@Network and LAUNCH were the top-ranked commercial Internet Broadcasters with 6,125,321 and 4,675,064 hours of Total Time Spent Listening (TTSL), the sum total of hours listeners tune to a given station or network, respectively. MUSICMATCH was the top-ranked non-commercial Internet Broadcaster, with 2,414,129 hours of TTSL. The Adsertion Network was ranked as the top Internet Radio Advertising Sales Network with 675,460 TTSL.

MUSICMATCH Artist Match was the top non-commercial Internet Broadcast Station with 977,212 hours of TTSL. AOL Love Songs was ranked as the highest commercial Internet Broadcast Station with 332,290 hours of TTSL.

The top Content Delivery Networks (CDN) were Live365 and StreamGuys with 2,925,053 TTSL and 601,322 TTSL, respectively. The Total Time Spent Listening for these Content Delivery Networks is the sum of all tuning to stations streamed by the CDN including commercial and non-commercial stations.

  1. TTSL (Total Time Spent Listening), sometimes referred to as Aggregate Tuning Hours (ATH), is the total number of hours tuned to a given station or network in the reported time period.
  2. Cume Persons is an estimate of the total number of unique listeners who had one or more listening sessions lasting five minutes or longer during the reported time period. This estimate is derived using an algorithm that takes into account unique media player GUIDs, unique IP addresses and other variables during the reported time period.
  3. The ratings may not reflect all tuning for the measured stations or channels since Arbitron may have received incomplete or unusable server data.
  4. As Arbitron Internet Broadcast Ratings (powered by MeasureCast technology) transitions to a subscription-only service, some stations previously reported in the ratings have elected not to subscribe to the service and will no longer be included.
  5. The 128K MP3 and all Ogg streams for Virgin Radio/1215 AM & 105.8 FM are not currently measured by Arbitron Internet Broadcast Ratings.
  6. Due to a switch in Content Delivery Networks, tuning for The Adsertion Network is lower for the week of February 16.
