Two Contemporary Christian Channels Rank Among Top 25 In September
Arbitron Webcast Ratings. 10.10.02
NEW YORK, October 10, 2002 - Arbitron Inc. (NYSE: ARB) today announced that two new Contemporary Christian channels - K-LOVE and Air 1 Radio - joined the September Arbitron Webcast RatingsSM and ranked among the top 25 webcast channels.
K-Love was ranked number two with 1,004,700 aggregate tuning hours (ATH), the sum total of all hours that listeners tune to a given station. Air 1 Radio was ranked number 15 with 222,100 ATH.
Maintaining its top channel ratings spot, Virgin Radio held the number one position with 1,263,700 ATH. Jazz FM UK was ranked number three with 977,800 ATH.
September Network Ratings
New to Arbitron Webcast Ratings, Educational Media Foundation was ranked
number five with 1,302,500 ATH. Live365 was ranked the number one network with
10,050,900 ATH; Clear Channel Worldwide was ranked number two with 5,815,600
ATH; and ChainCast/StreamAudio was ranked number three with 3,911,900 ATH.
Webcast networks are defined as radio station owners that stream their content
online or companies that aggregate online audio programming. Webcast networks
are ranked according to their total monthly ATH.
Background and Methodology
The rankings included in the September 2002 Arbitron Webcast Ratings are
based on those stations and channels that have provided Arbitron with access
to their server data. The ratings may not reflect all tuning for the measured
stations or channels, since Arbitron may have received incomplete or unusable
server data.
Arbitron Webcast Ratings debuted with October 1999 data as the world's first
streaming media ratings service. Arbitron Webcast Ratings provides ratings for
streamed media because webcasters need objective, third-party audience measurement
to demonstrate the value of their audiences to agencies and advertisers. Arbitron
Webcast Ratings is a server-side measurement, which captures tuning to participating
streamed media channels by compiling a near census of Internet tuning sessions.
