Enhancements Highlights

Arbitron is dedicated to making the RADAR® service—long known as the “gold standard” for network radio audience measurement—increasingly valuable to networks, agencies and advertisers. Since acquiring RADAR, Arbitron has made significant enhancements to the service. This time line highlights some of the major improvements that have occurred.

RADAR 102

September 2009

  • Sample size for RADAR 102 is 345,230.
  • There are 58 networks reported in RADAR 102.
  • The Added Reach Report can be run in prior Studies from within the current Study. Previously, this report could only be run in the current Study.
  • The Help system has been enhanced and expanded to include additional reports. RADAR 102 continues to include both PPM and Diary respondents. Miami-Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood, Seattle-Tacoma, Phoenix, Minneapolis-St. Paul and San Diego now join the previously included PPM markets of Houston-Galveston; Philadelphia; New York; Los Angeles; Chicago; San Francisco; Dallas-Ft. Worth; Atlanta; Washington, DC; Detroit; and Boston.
RADAR 101

June 2009

  • Sample size increased to 330,182 respondents.
  • There are 58 networks reported in RADAR 101.
  • ABC Radio Networks is now Citadel Media Networks. All ABC Radio Networks have dropped “ABCRN” from their names and have added “Citadel Media.” The SCAN Duplication Analysis has been updated to allow reporting on any Daypart.
  • The Help system has been enhanced. The new HTML-based help system displays inside the users’ browser and is easier to navigate with active links to quickly locate and access the RADAR help topics.
  • RADAR 101 continues to include both PPM™ and Diary respondents. Boston now joins the previously included PPM markets of Houston-Galveston; Philadelphia; New York;, Los Angeles; Chicago; San Francisco; Dallas-Ft. Worth; Atlanta; Washington, DC; and Detroit.
RADAR 100

March 2009

  • Sample size increased to 315,112 respondents.
  • There are 58 networks reported in RADAR 100.
  • RADAR Software Suite replaces PC 2010 name.
  • RADAR 100 Desktop has a new look and a new icon .
    • Open the ACT 1 Affiliate System application directly from the RADAR 100 desktop (if you subscribe to this service).
    • Open the National Audio Tools Web site directly from the RADAR 100 desktop.
    • View the new Glossary directly from the Desktop.
  • Parts’ Market-by-Market report has been expanded to include all 206 DMA® markets, as well as User Selected, Top 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150 markets.
  • The Select Parts By Daypart functionality found in SOS is now also available in PARTS.
  • RADAR 100 continues to include both PPM™ and Diary respondents. In addition to Houston-Galveston, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco, the new markets are:
    • Dallas-Ft. Worth
    • Atlanta
    • Washington, DC
    • Detroit
RADAR 99

December 2008

  • Sample size increased to 300,103 respondents.
  • New expanded dayparts are available in addition to the current dayparts. Beginning in RADAR 99, there will be 98 dayparts. New daypart time ranges include:
    • 5A-12M, 5A-8P, 5A-7P, 6A-8P, 5A-10A, 3P-8P, 8P-12M, 12M-5A and, for Mon-Fri only, 5A-10A plus 3P-8P.
    • Prior studies will not display data for the new dayparts.
  • There are 58 networks reported in RADAR 99.
  • RADAR 99 continues to include both PPM™ and Diary respondents. In addition to Houston-Galveston and Philadelphia, the new PPM markets are:
    • New York, which includes the embedded markets of Nassau- Suffolk (Long Island) and Middlesex- Somerset-Union.
    • Los Angeles, which includes the market of Riverside-San Bernardino.
    • Chicago.
    • San Francisco, which includes the embedded market of San Jose.
RADAR 98

September 2008

  • Sample size increased to 275,088 respondents.
  • Dial Global acquired the Jones MediaAmerica network. The former Jones MediaAmerica networks will now be known as:
    • Dial Global Adult Power—DAD (formerly JAD).
    • Dial Global Female Perspective—DFP (formerly JFP).
    • Their data will continue to be trended.
  • ABC Radio Networks will have a new prefix (ABCRN instead of ABC) in front of the network names.
  • There are 58 networks reported in RADAR 98.
  • Software:
    • Market-by-Market report in PARTS expanded to include Top 150 DMA® Markets.
RADAR 97

June 2008

  • Sample size increased to 250,090 respondents.
  • RADAR has a new network organization, United Stations Radio Networks. Their network to be reported as “United Stations Impact Network.”
  • Beginning with the RADAR 97 June 2008 report, network affiliations are based on one target date, which is approximately 60 days prior to the RADAR release date rather than three separate monthly target dates from the latest quarter. Affiliated stations will now contribute 100% of their audience to a network.
  • Software:
    • Market-by-Market report in PARTS has expanded to include the Top 125 DMA®s.
    • With the current release of PC 2010, if all 10 prior studies are installed with the current study, you will now be able to access the data for all reports in each of the RADAR applications under the File menu, Prior Studies option.
    • Functionality has been added to the File menu on the PARTS worksheet screen to allow users to export PARTS data from the PARTS worksheet screen to a csv or other file.
    • PARTS Worksheet screen now provides a total of the number of units or GRPS selected for the plan.
    • It is now easier to save Custom Dayparts in PARTS, SPOTS and SOS.
    • Windows in all applications are now moveable.
RADAR 96

March 2008

  • Sample size increased to 225,063 respondents.
