Owen Charlebois is president, Technology and Research & Development. Owen joined the company in January 2001.
Prior to joining Arbitron, Owen was president and CEO of BBM Bureau of Measurement for 10 years. Immediately before joining BBM, Owen was a senior executive of the Gallup Organization in Canada, from 1987 through 1990. In his last two years at Gallup, Owen was president, responsible for all of Gallup's Canadian operations.
Prior to leading Gallup in Canada, Owen was a principal with the management consulting division of Coopers & Lybrand, in the marketing strategy and research practice.
Owen has been actively involved in a number of industry associations over his 27-year career in marketing and media research. He is the former president and an elected Fellow of the Professional Marketing Research Society (PMRS), the leading professional association of marketing and survey researchers in Canada. He is also a past president of the Canadian Association of Marketing Research Organizations (CAMRO) and a past director of the Canadian Survey Research Council (CSRC). Owen also sits on a number of ARF (Advertising Research Foundation) committees and was a country representative and an appointed member of the ethics review committee of ESOMAR (European Society for Opinion and Market Research).
In 2002, Owen helped to found the Radio Ad Effectiveness Lab (RAEL), the U.S. industry organization established to conduct independent research on the effectiveness of radio advertising. Owen was cochairman of the board of RAEL from 2002 to 2005, and is currently serving as a director along with other radio industry CEOs and leaders. He is also a director of The First Tee of Howard County, a charitable organization designed to teach life skills to local youth through the game of golf.
He holds a B.Comm. (Bachelor of Commerce) in business from Carleton University and an M.B.A. from the University of Ottawa.
Owen lives in Columbia, MD, and works out of the Columbia office.
